I am always looking for a creative gift to give a host for Thanksgiving. Giving a bottle of wine or bringing a dessert are great, but sometimes it’s nice to put effort into making something (and it can be fun too!). I love the idea of using a pumpkin as a vase and stuffing it with fresh flowers. And it just screams Fall to me!
Here are the steps to creating the pumpkin flower arrangements:
- Make sure to buy small pumpkins, they are called “pumpkins for pie”.
- Cut the stem off the pumpkins, and make sure you cut it big enough to fit your mason jars.
- Take out all the gooey stuff inside with your hands or a spoon (or a combination of both).
- Fill the mason jars with cold water and a little bit of powdered flower food.
- Insert the mason jar into the pumpkin.
6. Cut your flowers down so they aren’t too long.
7. Fill the mason jars with the flowers and arrange until they are to your satisfaction. And voila! You have a centrepiece or a beautiful host/hostess gift!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

These look great, Dana! I will definitely be trying this out and then waiting for all of the applause as I arrive at the dinner party :). Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Deb!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Xoxo
Since I missed this for Thanksgiving, Iām pondering how to adjust for Halloween… ?āāļø
Thanks!
Good point! You could buy little plastic ghosts from the dollar store and stick in with the fresh flowers. Good luck! š
