It’s been a while… Oops!

by dianuzziello

Okay, so remember that part of my blog that says you should check back for new posts weekly… how’s bi-annually? Oops! The truth is – life is busy! So much going on, but, I am back and excited to post. 🙂

We moved into a new place, so I have been crazily taking pictures of every room. Here’s how the typical picture taking goes — empty room, then with some stuff, then I convince myself to buy and go practical, save some money, so I take a pic with the new (inexpensive) furniture, then I hate it, return it, then just buy the original (double the price) thing, then I’m happy. They say happiness is a choice, so I’ve just come to terms that my happiness is expensive. 🙂

Sooo.. all that to say.. I wanted to do a few interior design posts of my ‘before’ and ‘after’. I am going to go room by room and hopefully you guys will enjoy! But in the meantime, here are a few pics of the new place.

Mostly empty, some stuff we brought from our condo, but you get the idea! My favourite thing about this house is that when my close friends and family have come to see it, their first comment is, “This is so you!”. And it is – it’s like the house was made for me.

Later this week I will post about the ‘dining room’. The whole main floor is open concept, with a huge wood island, so you’ll see the table I chose to ensure there was no clashing. It was really hard to find a table that I loved and wasn’t ‘wood looking’.

But in the meantime, I give you one of my “I’ll buy a real plant and become a professional gardener because of it” stories. The previous owners had this huge artificial plant off their main dining space. It really made a difference in the room and brought some life to it. So, in doing some research, I found out (trying to be practical) that real plants are like a quarter of the price of these artificial ones! So, out I went to a store and bought the most beautiful, green, lush looking palm something? Areca palm or palm bay? Who knows?

All I know is I’m out $70 +++ and now I have to buy an artificial one. Send help.
All was going well and I am watering it weekly. Maybe the second or third week comes along, I am getting ready to water it, and bam. THIS!

Some sort of worm? So I brought the thing outside, and it never came back in. My sister’s friend who is obsessed with plants came and took it (while calling me crazy). I googled it (of course) and found out they can each lay up to 300 eggs. And I’m the crazy one??! 😉
